I've customized nearly every car I've ever owned in some way. I met Sam when he was still in high school, working for his dad at Color Dynamics. Always blown away by the quality of Larry's work, and the passion and integrity with which he pursued his art, I expected great things from Sam. Over the years, I've had Sam's graphics on nearly every vehicle I've owned since I met him, from the first sticker produced on that simple stencil plotter from Color Dynamics on my 79 blazer and 83 Camaro, to the more sophisticated fonts Sam discovered and delivered using the same equipment on my show quality 89 blazer, to the radically advanced carbon fiber print materials on my GSX Eclipse in the late 90s. Sam's ideas and knowledge of the vinyl graphics industry became more sophisticated and complex each time I approached him with a new concept. His creations were always evolving, keeping a few steps ahead of industry standards and he was always looking for the latest groundbreaking materials. When he partnered into MGraphics, I approached him about another idea I had for my Eclipse, ready to take it to the next level, and Sam suggested a couple of alternative designs. He'd gone so far beyond my initial idea, creating a beautiful piece of art for my car... it was like he had seen into my head, and knew what I really wanted, but didn't think was possible to do with vinyl. He created films for me using a combination of processes that at the time, no one else could produce, and helped me complete the transformation on that car with results that no one would believe were vinyl.

Visit Our ShopWhen Sam came back from Oregon, I was one of the people filling up his voicemail looking for work that I knew only Sam could deliver. Given what I'd seen of his work over the time since I first encountered him at Color Dynamics, and how his concepts were continually changing, almost taking on a new life of their own, it made perfect sense to me that he named his solo enterprise Graphic Evolution, and from the moment he opened GE's doors, I was hounding him for graphics.

From comically nerdy graphics based on fictional Star Trek races, to a full front end tribal flame job in an effort to "un-soccer-mom" my 96 four door Yukon, Sam turned my rides into rolling works of art. When I started Zombie Customs, Sam took some concepts that I had for the company showcase rig, a lightly modified Jeep Grand Cherokee, and again went to the next level. I would end up having Sam redesign the company logo, and develop the graphic which became my business card, and the main fixture of all my advertising. In early 2006, in preparation for an appearance in the local Autorama, I had Sam start fresh with my now highly modified jeep, keeping the company logo, but changing the presentation. I wanted to bigger, flashier and more extreme, while maintaining a subtlety to the art work, but a focus on the advertising.

Sam's creations flowed perfectly with the stock lines of the jeep, while working emphasizing and further integrating the customized features I'd added and the accessories I'd built, all while maintaining the image I'd created for Zombie Customs by utilizing a one off tribal skull design split and rendered in flat black that ran from the headlights to the rear doors of the jeep and repeated on either side of the custom integrated ram air hood scoop, with the company logo presented over the entire rear quarter window and fender. Sam's work helped propel my jeep to a Best In Class win at the 2006 Autorama, and would remain a distinguishing feature of the jeep long after Zombie Customs closed its doors in the economic crunch of 2008. Sam's work was instrumental in getting my jeep, and thereby my company noticed among fierce competition in the Utah Custom Off-road scene, and the attention that it drove was what kept Zombie Customs out of the grave for as long as it was. Even now, Sam's work graces both vehicles in my garage today, and likely will for the foreseeable future. I've seen him do things that I never dreamed could be done with vinyl. He is TRULY a Master at his art. ~ Randal Riches, former owner Zombie Customs
